LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - A local church is hoping to make holiday shopping a little easier for residents at a Lawton nursing home, and spread a little Christmas cheer in the process.

House of Bread Ministries is helping seniors at Cedar Crest Nursing home check off their Christmas gift list by doing some of the shopping for them.

As the residents enjoyed Christmas carols sung by the Eisenhower Choir, they got the chance to pick out gifts for their loved ones and have the items wrapped.

“The residents they can't go out and shop for themselves for Christmas so we're bringing Christmas to them so they can shop for their Christmas parties,” said House of Bread Ministries Church Associate Pastor Ramonda Bruno.

Each resident also received a teddy bear for themselves or to share with a loved one. Bruno says House of Bread Ministries has been doing this event for the last few years at Cedar Crest, and she encourages other churches to do the same by adopting an area nursing home or assisted living facility. She also adds, they are always looking for donations of gifts to make this event better each year.
