LAWTON, OK (KSWO)- While the temperature is dropping this weekend, you will want to keep an eye on the roads.

Road crews in Comanche County and Oklahoma Department of Transportation will be watching the weather to make sure roads are passable when that light snow hits and sand trucks are on standby.

County Commissioner Don Hawthorne says in District three alone, they've piled over 500 tons of sand in preparation for this weekend.

He encourages drivers to be extremely cautious while traveling, especially if they see sand trucks on the road.

"Patience is really the key. Don't be in any hurry and just stay back because of the blades on the bottom of the sanders sling to the gravel so you have to be cautious behind the sand trucks, said Hawthorne.

A new online road condition map is available now at
http://www.okroads.com/. There you can find up-to-date road conditions, delays or closures.
