LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - Here is your daily dose of holiday cheer that will warm your hearts on this cold winter day.

Lawton officers and kids got together to sing for local retirement and nursing homes on Saturday. This is something the Lawton Police Department started last year. They went to about 6 centers, including the Veterans Center.

One of the young carolers, Taniya Tate, who did this last year, explains why she came out to sing again.

"You know some of these people, they really don't get visited a whole lot,” said Tate. “So I wanted to come this year so I can give some people presents for Christmas! Give them my beautiful voice!"

They also visited with the residents at the center, and passed out Christmas cards made by people in different neighborhood watches around Lawton. The officers there say that they are focusing on creating a yearly tradition with this caroling event.
