COMANCHE COUNTY, OK (KSWO) - The Comanche County Sheriff's office is asking for the public's help finding the owners of some stolen items worth $2,000 to $3,000 they recently recovered. Authorities found appliances and other items in a storage unit in the county, all thanks to a tip the sheriff received on their Facebook page.

There wasn't too much information Sheriff Ken Stradley could give because this is an open investigation that they have been working on this week.

The Sheriff put out on Facebook that they were looking for recent victims of theft, most likely people with a rental home that's currently vacant, a house for sale, or with an unoccupied home under renovation.

Authorities didn't want to say exactly what they recovered, but said there were home appliances including a hot water heater.

The sheriff says thieves work all year round, but as you are out shopping for Christmas, the thieves are shopping, too.

"Be alert and pay attention because there is a lot of people giving, but there are some people taking,” said Sheriff Stradley. “That's who we are trying to get, and we are trying to get this property back to whoever owns it.”

The sheriff says this should serve as a reminder to check on your property, because if anything is missing, his office might have it. If that's the case, call the Lawton police or the sheriff's office.

The sheriff says they do have a suspect in mind, one that is possibly involved in other burglaries. But he says they need to get these recovered items back to the owners before they can press on with the investigation.
