Lawton Police Officers read to students in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday

LAWTON, OK (KSWO)- Officers from the Lawton Police Department headed to a local elementary school to read to the students.

It was all a part of the week-long festivities at all Lawton Public Schools in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday, which is today. Officers went to Carriage Hills Elementary where they read The Cat in the Hat to the kids and answered any questions they had for them.

Officer Dustin Dye says it is great to interact with the young ones in our community.

"This is very special for me, I've got two kids of my own so to be able to come out here and give back to the community, it's amazing, I love it," Dye said.

Officer Dye said there was a great response from the kids today and he loves being able to answer all of their questions and let them know they are here to help.
