LAWTON, OK (KSWO)- Eisenhower High School put the fun in fundraising on Saturday. Their mentor program held a community carnival to raise money and awareness for hunger in Lawton.

The program is called Ignition, a student-ran organization geared toward community service and guiding incoming freshman. Each semester, members in the program decide on a project to develop for the following semester. This year was the carnival. The event featured live music, a dunk tank and plenty of prizes.

Chairman of the Ignition program Daijah Brown said they've been planning the carnival since last October. They thought there would be no better way to give back to the community and have fun while doing it.

"We wanted to raise money in a fun way," said Brown. "Instead of just asking people to give us money, we wanted to raise it by doing something other than just collecting food. We tried to switch it up and make it a fun event."

All proceeds made from the carnival will be donated to the Salvation Army. Brown said the carnival was such a hit they plan to do another one next year.
