VERDIGRIS, OK (KFOR/KTUL) – An Oklahoma man accused of murdering his father is on the run. The victim was found by his wife shot to death inside their home on Sunday night.

Brian Benedict, 30, is the person of interest in the case. He is the victim’s son. He is a white man, 5’8″ tall and 160 pounds. He may have shaved his head and eyebrows. According to KTUL, Benedict is an emotionally-fragile recluse who spends time in the densely wooded area near his parents' home.

Investigators with RCSO, Verdigris police, Grand River Dam Authority police and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol are searching the area. A search canine tracked Benedict's scent six miles east of the turnpike. Despite aerial support, investigators have not located him.

Classes in Verdigris were canceled for a second day as authorities continue to search close to the campus for Benedict. Investigators believe Benedict is on foot, armed and dangerous.
