WALTERS, OK (KSWO) - To celebrate National Pancake Day hundreds of Walters residents ate pancakes at the annual pancake dinner provided by the Walters Chamber of Commerce. About 350 people attended the event at Walters school cafeteria.

The proceeds from Tuesday’s event goes to the Chamber of Commerce's community chest.
The money is spread throughout the community to local groups in need.

In the past, the money has gone to getting local Girl Scouts vests and assisting with youth league sports fees.

"In a small town like this it's very important...we don't have a park and recreation department or anything. We don't have any source of funding for that for the kids and it just works out real good," Chamber member John Sheppard said.

During the event, they went through more than 50 pounds of pancake batter.

If you didn't have a chance to make it out and you'd like to donate to the community chest you can do so by contacting one Walters Chamber of Commerce.
