JCPenney will be closing 138 stores, four of which will be in Oklahoma, including the one in Altus.

JCPenney announced in February they would be closing stores throughout the country and on Friday they released the list of closings.

In total 138 stores will be closing and approximately 5,000 jobs will be impacted by the store closures. The closures will occur in June, liquidation of the stores will begin in April.

In a statement JCPenney explained the reason for the closures:

"As part of a continuing effort to advance sustainable growth and long-term profitability, J. C. Penney Company, Inc. will be closing 138 stores, one supply chain facility in Lakeland, Fla., and relocating one supply chain facility in Buena Park, Calif., to align the Company’s physical store footprint and omnichannel network."

A full list of the closures can be found here.
