Norman Republican to resign House seat at end of session

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A Republican state representative from Norman says he plans to resign at the end of the session to take a post with the Norman Chamber of Commerce.

Rep. Scott Martin announced Monday that he's submitted paperwork to the governor and House speaker indicating his intent to resign from his House seat effective May 31.

Martin has served for 11 years in House District 46, which includes most of north, west and south Norman, along with the town of Noble. He is in his last term and would have been term limited after the 2018 session.

The Norman Chamber voted Monday to name Martin its next president and chief executive officer beginning June 1.

Martin is the third Republican lawmaker to resign since November.
