OKC considers consolidating public schools

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (KSWO)- The Oklahoma City School Board is considering closing five elementary schools after this school year. In an announcement, the board said the decision would save about $1.2 million.

The superintendent said $30 million has already been cut from this year's budget by cutting 208 teachers and staff. The consolidation plan would also convert Northeast Academy into a middle school.

A special school board meeting will take place April 6th to vote on the possible closings.
