LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - A local high school is getting students ready for their futures.

Eisenhower High School invited students and their families to their Second Annual College and Career Fair on Tuesday night. It featured representatives from local businesses, law enforcement agencies and first responders, as well as recruiters from colleges in Oklahoma and Texas.

Organizers say the event is especially important for students who may need a little guidance in preparing for life after they receive their diploma.

"They don't necessarily know which direction they want to go once they graduate so our overall focus this evening is to introduce them to different careers and give the students a chance to talk to people in those careers," said Paula Bowen, Eisenhower High School teacher.

Bowen encourages more businesses in the community to get involved by offering internships to students. She also encourages other area high schools to offer similar college and career fairs for their students.
