OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (KOCO) —The Oklahoma Senate has approved a measure allowing counties to decide whether to allow liquor stores sales on Sundays.

“With the passage of State Question 792, starting in October 2018, grocery and convenience stores will be able to sell beer and wine, including on Sundays,” said Sen. Stephanie Bice, R-Oklahoma City. “Senate Bill 211 will give counties the option to allow retail liquor stores to operate on Sundays.”

Counties could make the decision during a special election or if 15 percent of registered voters in a county sign a petition asking for a vote.

Senate Bill 211 heads to the House of Representatives for further consideration.
