OKLAHOMA CITY, Ok (KSWO) -

State Senator Ralph Shortey has officially announced his resignation.

Shortey sent his official letter to the State Senate President Pro Tempore who announced that he had accepted the resignation.

Shortey was arrested in early March after police say he was found in a hotel room with a teenage boy. The senate voted last week to remove Shortey from all of his committee appointments and removed his name from his office door.

Shortey is facing three felony charges related to child prostitution. The FBI is also investigating the situation.
