NORMAN, OK (KSWO)- The Norman Police Department was dispatched to a report of an individual with a hatchet destroying shrubbery outside of a Walmart on March 22 at 11:00 p.m.  A store employee told police the individual pointed a firearm at the employee. The individual left the scene before officers arrived.

However, shortly after, Norman police received a second call that an individual had driven through the back fence of a fraternity house. Vincent Peter Valentin, 21, allegedly fired two rounds at the residence and one inside his vehicle. Witnesses say Valentin pointed the gun at several members of the fraternity who confronted him, attempted to fire a shot, and threw the hatchet in their direction. No one was injured.

Valentin then fled the scene on foot. Officers found Valentin nearby with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Valentin is currently enrolled as a student at the University of Oklahoma. The incident remains under investigation.
