FORT SILL, OK- Two teens are lucky to be alive after allegedly stealing a car in Lawton early Tuesday morning and crashing into a tree next to the Fort Sill Golf Course.

Lawton Police was in pursuit of a stolen vehicle just before 4:00 a.m. The vehicle drove through Scott Gate on Fort Sill Boulevard until the road ends at King Road.

The driver was unable to navigate the curve near Upton Road near hole #15 on Fort Sill's Golf Course at such a high rate of speed. According to authorities, the car hit the curb and went airborne for about 40 feet before the front passenger side dug into the ground. The car bounced up and hit the trunk of a tree about 8 feet off the ground.

A Fort Sill Directorate of Emergency Services official confirms that the driver was ejected through the windshield. The 16-year-old driver and the 15-year-old passenger were taken to a local hospital with superficial injuries and will face charges.

Both suspects are now in custody. More information will be released as it becomes available.
