TECUMSEH, OK (KSWO) - Authorities in Pottawatomie County have released the dash cam footage from Officer Justin Terney's patrol car.

On March 26, Officer Justin Terney was shot during a traffic stop for a broken taillight. Terney underwent emergency surgery area hospital and passed away Monday morning.

In the video, you can see Officer Terney following Brooklyn Williams' car for several blocks. When vehicle pulls over, Terney can be heard asking for the driver and passenger’s licenses. Byron Shepard is caught on camera lying about his identity. When confronted, Shepard is seen running into a wooded area.

Officer Terney then yells to Shepard that he will be tased. The pair jump a fence and then the fatal shots are fired. The actual shooting takes place off camera. Officials believe that Shepard was shot by Terney 3 times after Terney was hit.

Shepard, 36, has since been charged with one count of first-degree murder.
