LAWTON, OK (KSWO)-Comanche Nation Tribal police held a graduation ceremony Tuesday night for its Citizens Police Academy.

20 people graduated from the program.

The academy is not only a way to give participants a look at how the Comanche Nation Police Department utilizes the money in its budget, but also a look at what officers do on a daily basis, whether that's learning how they handle investigations, make traffic stops, or provide honor guard detail.

Comanche Nation Police Chief, Vernon Griffin, says "These are things that touch people's lives and we've seen people at the best of times and the worst of times and the key thing we want them to know is that we're there."

This was the fourth graduation ceremony for the Citizens Police Academy.  Tribal police host 2 sessions each year.
If you would like to pick up an application for the next academy in October, you can get one at the Comanche Nation Police Dispatch Center on Madiche Road.
