Vigil held for elderly OKC women killed in vicious dog attack

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (KSWO)- A community is coming together after an Oklahoma City woman was killed by her neighbor's dogs.

The neighborhood held a candlelight vigil to remember the 82-year-old. Those in attendance chose to place chains at the memorial site instead of flowers in order to remind others to properly take care of their pets.

The owner of the two dogs that killed the woman last week was out of town when they got out of the backyard.

"If you're out of town and you don't have time to fix your fence, then chain your dogs. Keep somebody safe," said John Todd, a resident of the area.

The victim's daughters said their mom would be thrilled to see that she brought her neighborhood together.

Charges have not been filed against the dog's owner. Police are still trying to speak to any witnesses of the attack.
