FORT SILL, OK (KSWO) - Monday night at sundown people across the globe celebrated the first night of Passover by sitting down to a Seder dinner. On Fort Sill, soldiers and their families attended Seder at the Cache Creek Chapel.

Jewish people celebrate Passover to remember the Israelites being freed from slavery in Egypt. The ceremonial meals, called Seders, are full of traditional foods, storytelling and drinking wine.

Exchange Service General Manager Daniel Wise helped host this Seder on post for the soldiers who may be far from home during Passover.

"It's definitely a taste of home and a feel of home,” said Wise. “This is around the world at the same time. Passover Seders are starting. Because we have several days of Passover. But this is the first night.”

The Garrison Chaplain says Fort Sill's Jewish population fluctuates because soldiers move on after basic training. But a Seder is always held on Fort Sill every year on the first night of Passover.
