OK will vote to legalize medical marijuana in 2018

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (KSWO)- Lawmakers are leaving it up to the voters to decide whether to legalize medical marijuana.

Some say, through its legalization, medical marijuana could help bridge the nearly $900-million budget crisis. Representative Eric Proctor said it will not only generate revenue but also help those who are sick.

Opponents point to rising crime in states where it's legalized. A group called New Frontier Data found through its cannabis index report that 28 states collected $4.7- billion last year from taxing marijuana.

The medical marijuana measure will be on the ballot next year.
