LAWTON, OK (KSWO)- The charter proposal that would have allowed the Lawton City Council to set residency requirements for department heads has been put on hold.

Councilman Dwight Tanner moved to table it so the council would have more time to think about it.

Also, decided last night, Woods Park and North Legion Park in Lawton were declared surplus and will soon be put up for sale. Two other city-owned properties, Airport Park and a piece of land near Lake Ellsworth were excluded from the decision.

Officials said a public hearing needs to be held for Airport Park before it's declared surplus because it's worth more than $50,000. An easement issue next to the land near Lake Ellsworth needs to be settled before it's sold.
