Man faces 2nd murder charge in New Year’s Eve Crash

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (KWTV)- Craig Maker, is now facing a second 2nd-degree murder charge for the alleged drunk driving incident on the Kilpatrick Turnpike that killed Mandy Starkey-Carson, 37, and injured her daughter, 9, and Nhu Houng, a foreign exchange student.

Canadian County prosecutors have now charged Maker with the death of Nhu Houng. Houng, 18, died 15 days after the New Year's Eve crash due to her injuries.

According to court records, Craig Maker pleaded guilty to four DUI charges since 2011.

    The Altus Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating Marielle Trey Smith, 24. A warrant for 2nd-degree murder has been issued for Smith’s arrest. Altus police officers believe that Smith is involved in the shooting death of 32-year-old Jared Allen Holmes in the 400 block of North Julian. Investigators found evidence that the shooting took place at an Altus residence on Sunday night around 9:00 p.m.

    The 39-year-old man sentenced to death in the 1996 killing of a University of Oklahoma ballerina will not go back to court. The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals denied a request for a new hearing for Anthony Sanchez. He was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Juli Busken. Busken was abducted on December 20, 1996. Her body was found that evening in southeast Oklahoma City. She had been raped and shot.

    Two inmates are on the run after stealing a prison transport van in Fairview, Oklahoma. It happened just before 3:30 this morning about 80 miles northwest of Oklahoma City. Police say Andrew Foy and Darran Walp overpowered two transport officers and took off in the van. That van was later found in Ringwood and inside, deputies found a police belt with an empty holster so they believe the inmates may be armed.
