CMS launches arts enrichment program for students

LAWTON, OK (KSWO)- An afternoon of creative thinking and expression inside a local area middle school where a pilot arts enrichment program was launched.

Central Middle School kicked off the program, called 'Aliven". They hosted several local artists to come and put on an interactive theatre presentation inside the classroom. It's all in an effort to help the students become more well-rounded.

“A person that has been given the opportunity and has access to arts integration in their classroom is a more well-rounded person who is able to think creatively outside of the box a person who's a better leader,” said Mandee Thomas, an ACTS teacher at CMS.

Community members from Cameron University, Blue Moon Productions, Lawton community theatre and the Lawton Ballet Theatre all aided the program.
