MEDICINE PARK, OK (KSWO) -Families from all over Southwest Oklahoma kayaked, fished and enjoyed Saturday in the sun as a part of Cameron University's Outdoor Activity Day.
Cameron's Sports and Exercise Science Department hosted the free event out at the beautiful Medicine Park. Kids and even some parents participated in the archery, paddle boarding, games and moon bounce activities. Cameron's goal was to inspire kids and families to get outside and do activities together that get you moving.
Mary Allen brought her kids out and got to show them how to shoot the bow and arrow. She hopes this event allows her kids to learn something new.
"Just to get them out and about and to let them see what their strengths and weaknesses are, like just to help build themselves up," said Allen.
11 year old, Trey Self says he spends most of his time outdoors playing or riding bikes with his brothers but after the event, he thinks he will have a new hobby.
"I tried to like shoot it as far as I can with 4 arrows and bow and arrow is my favorite also," said Self.
The first 100 children who got to the event today, also took home a free T-shirt.
