Woman arrested after urinating on police officer

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Jonesboro police arrested a woman on suspicion of aggravated assault after they say she urinated on an officer.

Around 8:30 Wednesday night Officer Tyler Wilson stopped 48-year-old Melissa Karen Tippett of Jonesboro for careless driving in the 300-block of Melrose.

According to the incident report, Tippett said her husband “told her to go back to Sully’s to get her bottom teeth that she left there.”

Wilson said while talking to Tippett he noticed an odor of intoxicants coming from her person.

The officer took her into custody then escorted her back to his vehicle.

“While walking she kept swaying and losing her balance,” Wilson reported.

Officer Alexandria Duncan arrived at the scene to conduct a search of Tippett. While searching Tippett’s right leg, Duncan reported the woman began to urinate.

“My left hand was soaked in urine,” Duncan stated in the initial incident report.

Duncan stopped searching Tippett and “immediately tried to find something to rinse her hands off with.”

Wilson placed a towel in the back seat of his patrol car then put Tippett inside.

While in the back of the patrol car, Tippett began screaming insults at the officers, including the N-word.

Wilson took Tippett to the Justice Complex where she agreed to take a breath test. According to the incident report, her blood alcohol content (BAC) was 0.17, double the legal limit.

Tippett was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center where she was charged with DWI, driving while suspended, careless driving, and aggravated assault upon a certified law enforcement officer or employee of state/local correctional facility.

She was left in lieu of a $2,525 surety bond on the misdemeanor charges.
