National Weather Center Biennale Announces 2017 Exhibition

NORMAN, OK (KSWO)- The National Weather Center at the University of Oklahoma has partnered with the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art and the Norman Arts Council to announce the third National Weather Center Biennale, which opens April 23 at 1:00 p.m. Reception will include the announcement of winners as well as the chance to vote for your favorite.

“We had 575 submissions from around the world,” said Berrien Moore, director of the National Weather Center. “We were so impressed with the talent that came in. This is going to be quite a show!”

"The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art is excited to participate in this collaboration with the National Weather Center and the Norman Arts Council,” said Mark White, Director, and Curator at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art. “The dynamic interdisciplinary environment of The University of Oklahoma and the enthusiastic support of the Norman community, in general, makes this an outstanding and unique national, even international, event.”

“We are very much looking forward to the third National Weather Center Biennale,” said Erinn Gavaghan, Executive Director of the Norman Arts Council. “The past exhibits were remarkable and the Norman Arts Council is delighted to again be a part of the team.”

The Biennale exhibition of selected works, including the prize winners, officially opens on April 23 and will close June 19. Additional information about the exhibition is available at www.nwcbiennale.org.
