OK man flees from police in a stolen golf cart

NORMAN, OK (KSWO)- A man is behind bars this morning after leading officers on a chase across a golf course in Norman.

Four armed home invasion suspects also stole the homeowner's car on Saturday. An officer recognized the car, leading to a chase that ended when the suspects crashed and ran off.

Later, when state troopers were responding to a call about a suspicious man near a golf course, he stole a golf cart to get away. A trooper caught up to him in another golf cart, but the man bailed and jumped into a creek, forcing troopers to use a helicopter with thermal imaging to locate him.

"During the foot pursuit, the suspect commandeered a golf cart and took off across the course… Patrol 1, OHP's helicopter, was able to use their FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared Radiometer) device and saw a hot spot kind of from a far-out distance," said Garrett Vowell with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

No word yet on the other three suspects.
