Lawton Community Foundations awards 14 seniors scholarships

LAWTON, OK (KSWO)- Graduating seniors from Lawton and the surrounding area will have some extra money heading into college thanks to a scholarship from the Lawton Community Foundation.

Nearly $27,000 in scholarships was awarded to fourteen seniors from Lawton, Cache, Elgin, and Frederick this morning at Cameron University. This scholarship program has continued for the last 15 years.

“It gives them a chance to go to college, especially the Lawton Community Foundation Scholars that go to Cameron will get an additional match to go to Cameron. Many students these days are looking for support to go to college. Higher education is very important in Lawton and across Oklahoma,” said Nancy Anthony with the OKC Community Foundation.

Ten students earned the Lawton Community Foundation Scholarship worth $2,000. Four students were awarded scholarships named for different people.

The money for these scholarships is raised by Lawton trustees, donors, and individual scholarship sponsors.
