OK National Guard soldiers return home from the Middle East

OKMULGEE, OK (KSWO)- Nearly 70 soldiers with the Oklahoma Army National Guard are happy to be home, after a yearlong deployment to the Middle East.

The 777th Aviation Support Battalion, stationed in Okmulgee, deployed last summer.

While they were in the Middle East, they took part in refueling operations, ammo distribution, and transportation for the 77th Theatre Aviation Brigade out of Arkansas.

"Now, what are you plans now that you're back home?” – “Spend time with my family. And that's all that's on my mind right now. Spend time with my family, my daughter, my fianceé, my mom, my brothers, my sisters, that's all right now,” said Specialist Christopher Powell.

“How does it feel to be home finally, with your husband and your family?” – “God, it just feels so surreal. It doesn't even feel like I'm, I don't know, it's crazy to be home and to not think about there's another date in the future that I have to leave again,” said Specialist Cassandra Duval.

A second group from the same battalion is scheduled to return next week.
