OK (KSWO)- An Oklahoma rape survivor is thankful for Governor Mary Fallin's call to audit untested rape kits in the state.

As we've reported, thousands of kits are sitting in police department evidence rooms across the state and they've never been tested.

“Rape is about control and it strips you from your dignity and to further that by putting evidence on a shelf and not doing anything with it, further puts that thought in your mind, it's not worth it to report,” said Danielle Tudor.

“We can almost guarantee there's going to be DNA is those many kits that's going to match up to somebody in CODIS and a lot of those are probably going to match up to other kits," said Sgt. Jill Phippen with the Tulsa Police Department.

Money is a big factor for the tests. Tulsa police say each one costs about $1,200. Tudor, a rape victim herself, helped write a bill at the capitol to address how kits are handled and tested in the future.
