Man dies after tire blowout west of Crockett

HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A man has died in a two-vehicle crash Saturday as a result of a tire blowout.

The collision happened 11 miles west of Crockett at 9:41 p.m.

William Knight, 60, of Huntsville was traveling in his 1994 Ford Explorer eastbound on State Highway 7 when a tire blowout caused him to go on to westbound lanes colliding with a 2006 Chevrolet pickup, according to Department of Public Safety.

Knight died at the scene, but the driver of the pickup, Jacob Krenek, 21, of Centerville, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan. The other passenger in the pickup, Johnny Byrd, 19, of Leona, was taken to Timberland Healthcare in Crockett.

DPS said both Krenek and Bryd are in stable condition.
