LAWTON, OK (KSWO)-The third annual Open Streets Lawton-Fort Sill was held on Saturday to kick off the Fall season.

Over five thousand people from stopped by downtown Lawton to enjoy some fun on the block.

Kids dressed in their best Halloween costumes and played games.

There was also food trucks and vendors promoting healthy lifestyles.

The event was put on by many different community organizations.

City Planner for Lawton Richard Rogalski said the concept was to turn the city streets into a temporary public park with activities for the whole family.

"It promotes activity and getting outside and doing something active,” said Rogalski. “Each of the vendors has some sort of a game or activity to play. It really gets us back to our roots from when we were kids. Back to playing."

"I get to come out and look at all the kids trick or treat in their costumes,” said Shakiah Jack, attendee.

Rogalski said the event is held twice a year and they plan to hold another one in spring 2018.
