Lawton man arrested after calling to report accidental shooting that claimed one life

LAWTON, OK (KSWO)- One man has been arrested following a fatal shooting in Lawton on October 29th. Officers responded to the 2100 block of NW Lincoln on an accidental shooting around midnight on the 29th.

The victim, Donald Miller, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, Bret Splawn, called 911 to report the shooting. He admitted to police that he shot Miller with a .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun when the weapon accidentally discharged.

Splawn was booked on a 2nd-degree murder complaint. He is facing additional charges for marijuana and drug paraphernalia found at the scene.
