DUNCAN, OK (KSWO) -Two local businesses in Duncan are offering warmth to those who need it most.
As we approach the cooler months several businesses in Duncan are making sure every resident has a jacket this winter, and they are doing it all for free.
"If you want a jacket...take one. If you need one...take one. If you want to help drop stuff off...how ever you need to do it. If you have kids at home and need to take them because they are at school or somebody's at work they can take one as well," said Clark.
Moore's Corner Store Owner Brian Clark knows how it feels to not have a jacket when it's cold. So, he started this coat drive to make sure others stay warm.
"Sometimes I didn't have nothing so it's different to have stuff and be able to give stuff just to give it because people need it," said Clark.
Clark says the news of the coat drive spread quickly.
"Within 24 hours we already had about 10 people coming up bringing hangers, hats, coats, gloves, scarfs," said Clark.
The owner of Just Because Gift Shop also joined in on the movement after she first heard about it from her daughter. Gwen Ponder said the the Duncan Public Library helped her get started by donating several items they had from a clothing drive earlier this year.
She's already had several other people drop off items too and students at USAO in Chickasha are collecting coats as well.
"Without the community we don't have much I think we have to stand together and help each other. Its one for all, and all for one," said Ponder.
If you would like to join the movement and give back to someone in the community by donating a coat, gloves or scarf. You can stop by Moore's Corner Store on 5th and Main Street or visit Just Because on Highway 81 South in Duncan.
Moore's Corner Store opens Monday through Saturday, and Just Because opens Tuesday through Saturday.
