LAWTON, OK (KSWO)- One local church has some extra helping hands this afternoon to make sure no one in the community goes hungry.
The church serves one free meal 6 days a week to anyone who needs it. And starting tomorrow, they're going to get help from the Board of Directors from the United Way. The board has offered to help serve one day per month and it's much needed. The church says they feed between 100 and 200 people per day.
But, it's all in a day's work:
"The Lord said 'feed my people' and we are here doing what we asked us to do and we've been doing it about 35 years and we're just following his instructions," explained Harold Davis.
St. John's has served free meals for the last 35 years. On Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays they also have a clothes closet available.
All the money comes from donations or offerings.
