LAWTON, OK (KSWO) -More than 100 volunteers with a purpose of furthering performing and visual arts, set up for the Arts for All Gala Wednesday.
The event will feature music, food, drinks and a live auction all for a good cause.

This Great Plains Coliseum will soon be full of tables, chairs and decorations for the Arts for All Gala.

Shelly Ray, the Managing Director of the Lawton Community Theater was one of the volunteers that helped with today's setup. She says it takes a village to put on this event.

"It's really inspiring," said Ray. " I have to say, I am really impressed with not only the number of volunteers, but the dedicated hours they give to this event."

Due to state budget cuts, a lot of local organizations like the Lawton Community Theater and the Lawton Philharmonic Society lost their main source of funding. The money raised at this event stays local and benefits performing and visual arts organizations.

"It is extremely important that we as a community step up and do something to make sure that we are being arts advocates here locally," said Ray. "The money raised from this event gets divided out among the 6 groups and I use that money for the theater for programming. We have children's programming. It helps with the main stage productions. It helps me give away free tickets for folks that might not be able to afford to come to the theater."

Ray says they will spend the next two days decorating these wine bottles for the tables and hanging curtains. She says each year, the Gala gets better and better.

"You're going to have a great time," said Ray. "There's music, there's auction, there's food, there's drink. It's a great opportunity to mingle and network if you need those connections, this is the place to come Friday night."

The Arts for All Gala is Friday night at 7 o'clock. If you would like to attend, you still have time to get your tickets! They are $40.00 a piece at the Arts for All Office on southwest B avenue in Lawton.
