DUNCAN, OK (KSWO) - Cancer survivors and those who lost their life to cancer were honored Saturday morning for Stephens County's Relay for Life event. This was the 22nd year volunteers from the Stephens County Relay team hosted the event. They had music and provided tours of the Cancer Center of Southwest Oklahoma facility.
The goal is to raise money for research for the American Cancer Society.
April Hodges is one of the cancer survivors that participated. She's survived cervical and breast cancer. She said events like this make her feel like she's not alone.
"It's a great feeling to help people. I don't consider myself burdened any longer. I am out to help people as much as I can and as long as I can," Hodges said.
If you could not make it out to the event, but would like to donate visit the American Cancer Society's website.
