Man charged in Lincoln Ave shooting

LAWTON, OK (KSWO)- A Lawton man accused of shooting another man dead late last month was charged today. Bret Splawn is charged with 2nd-degree murder, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

On October 29th, Splawn called the police to report that his roommate, Donald Miller, had been shot. When police arrived at the 2100 block of Lincoln Avenue, Miller was deceased due to a single gunshot wound to the head. Splawn told police that he shot Miller accidentally with the .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun discharged. When authorities searched the home, they found marijuana and a pipe.

Splawn’s next court appearance has been scheduled for November 16th. If convicted on all charges, Splawn faces up to 12 years in prison and/or a $2,000 fine.
