LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - The tenth annual Armed Services Y-Fry kicks off in Lawton today.
It will be held at the Great Plains Coliseum Wednesday and Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m.
There, you can enjoy some fried chicken or fish while giving to a good cause.
Carol Herrick, Executive Director of the Lawton Armed Services YMCA, says money raised will help many junior enlisted soldiers and their families.
"Proceeds from the Y-Fry will go to support programs like The Soldier's closet, our daycare center - where we get military family members the cheapest rates we possibly can for daycare,” Herrick said.
"A lot of times they get here not knowing anybody, or having a support network of their own, and we can help fill in those gaps with our programs and services such as the food pantry and The Soldier's Closet."
You can purchase tickets for the dinner at the door for $12, or at the Lawton Armed Services YMCA at 900 Northwest Cache Road. Advanced tickets are $10. Children five and younger get in free.
