TRAFFIC ADVISORY:: Falcon Road Reconstruction Project

ALTUS, OK (KSWO)- An Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) Reconstruction Project with the support of the City of Altus has begun. The first phase of construction is to build a temporary lane on the north side of  Falcon Road.

Falcon Road from Main Street to Park Lane will be widened to three traffic lanes with a center turning lane. The project includes a new concrete surface, new road shoulders, upgraded LED street lighting, and new sidewalks.

The city strongly encourages that Falcon Road be used for local traffic only. Traffic will remain open in both directions but the speed limit has been reduced to 25 mph. Crossing intersections in the area will be closed at different times during the project. Street lighting along the project will also be temporarily reduced due to the construction.

The $2.5 million project utilizes almost $1.7million from federal funds with $844,975 from city matching funds. The Falcon Road project is scheduled to be completed by mid-summer 2018, plus any additional time due to weather delays.

Information provided by the City of Altus.
