Lawton chapter of NWTF opens

LAWTON, OK (KSWO) A national organization dedicated to wild Turkey hunting re-opened its chapter for the Lawton-Fort Sill area.

The Lawton chapter of the National Wild Turkey Foundation held its first meeting Thursday night.

The meeting was a grand re-opening of sorts, as a previous attempt to open a chapter collapsed due to a lack of interest.

Kamara Gatz, a chapter president out of Canadian County, explained that the new group is ready to share with Lawton their passion for the conservation and hunting of wild turkey.

"We'd like for the youth to get more involved, we'd like to get women more involved in hunting because you never know when or where you may need it, she said.

Anyone wanting to connect with a chapter of the NWTF can do so through their website.
