Lawton Salvation Army kicks off Red Kettle Campaign

LAWTON, OK (KSWO)- The bells are coming back to Lawton. In just a few days, bell ringers with the Lawton Salvation Army will be outside your favorite stores.

We were there for the kickoff this morning and our very own 7News Meteorologist Matt Dipirro got to ring the first bell.

The head of the Salvation Army says this is the one time of year that you'll see them out in public raising money for their many programs.

"The money raised here stays here locally in our county serving those in our service area, which is Comanche County, for helping with rent, utilities, different programs, our feeding programs, buying food--- all the different aspects the army provides,” said Major David Robinson.

If you would like to volunteer to be a bell ringer, you can call 580-355-1802 or head down to the Salvation Army and fill out an application.
