Craft Harvest Craft Show kicks off

LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - The 44th annual Craft Harvest Craft Show began Friday, kicking off a weekend of fun, food and crafts.

The first night of the show featured hundreds of booths of art and craft items, showcasing the skill of Lawton's art community.

The event was more than just an art display; it served as a hundreds-strong art marketplace that let attendees add a local, artistic flair to their Christmas shopping.

It's that flair that chairman Jose Vasquez said made the Craft Show one of a kind.

"You know, you go to the mall, for instance, and you gotta go to different stores, different places, to see the variety, he said. You come here, it's all under one roof  of course, you gotta walk a little to find everything  but that's what makes it more unique.

The show continues into the weekend, with doors opening Saturday at 10 a.m.

All proceeds will go to area charities.

More than half of the 17 people killed when a tourist boat sank on a Branson lake were members of the same Indiana family, and they likely wouldn't have been on the ill-fated trip but for a ticket mix-up.
