Lawton airport temporarily locked down after man takes off in airport vehicle

LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - Lawton police have arrested a man after they found him sleeping in a vehicle belonging to the Lawton-Fort Sill Regional Airport Thursday morning.
Police say officers responded to the airport around 3:30 a.m. after staff noticed Justin Tanner sleeping in the vehicle with the keys inside.
Authorities say when they tried to wake the man up, he drove off and hit airport property before getting out and running away.
The airport was temporarily locked down as a result, causing the 5:15 a.m. flight to be delayed by more than an hour.
Police eventually found Tanner and took him into custody for trespassing and tampering with a motor vehicle.
It's not clear how Tanner got a vehicle belonging to the airport.
