LAWTON, OK (KSWO)- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says law enforcement will be out in full force until January 1st, 2018.
That doesn't just apply to OHP. In addition to more troopers on the road, you can also expect to see an increase in your local law enforcement. They're going to be looking for impaired drivers and much more.
"Follow the rules of road. Make sure you use your turn signals, make sure you monitor your speed. Obey the traffic signs. Don't follow too close. And certainly, above all, do not text or drive or be inattentive while driving," Lt. Joe Williams with Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
Lieutenant Williams says the goal is to prevent another tragedy from happening this year. To date, there have been 120 alcohol-related fatalities in 2017. There were 189 in 2016.
