TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

The University of Texas at Tyler announced its new strategic plan. The plan includes five pillars to help the university reach their goals.

The pillars include student success, student engagement, research, community engagement, and a strong foundation. The new strategic plan includes a new logo not only for the school but also for its athletic department.

UT Tyler President Dr. Michael Tidwell said faculty, staff, and students all had an opportunity to contribute ideas to the strategic plan and the new logo design.

"We are extremely excited about the new logo; we pitched the idea to the board of regents just a few days ago [...] and they were elated with the freshness, the uniqueness, the dynamic of just having a single T as our primary logo," he said.
