Lawton, OK (KSWO)- A local shelter is needing supplies as they continue to house people.

C. Carter Crane Shelter for the Homeless does their best to help as many people as they can.
Having help from willing donators can make it easier for them to continue to do just that.

C. Carter Crane Shelter for the Homeless gives people a place to stay, basic necessities, and also helps them find employment and rehousing.

Director of C. Carter Crane, Edith McKinley said they are grateful for donations because that allows for them to use the money they have for other things such as helping clients find homes and provide bus tickets for them.

"The donations that we receive actually help us keep running on a consistent basis because we don't have to spend money to buy everyday things when they're donated and it's just such a relief," said McKinley.

A client, Cherry Chinn said she has been living there for a few months and is about to move into her own apartment and start a job thanks from the help of the shelter and donations.

"It is a wonderful place and they do run a lot on donations, so it is really important for laundry soap, shampoo, conditioners, body soap, stuff like that, something that we need everyday so we can be clean and presentable for job searching and interviews and stuff."

Chinn said she is looking forward to being able to provide for herself again and McKinley said being able to guide someone on a good path is a great feeling.

"On a personal note it's very gratifying to see that we've helped someone succeed or help someone find their way back where they belong even," said McKinley.

McKinley said they do currently need more bath and wash towels.
Donations are welcomed Monday-Sunday from 7:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. and they do offer receipts for donations given.

C. Carter Crane accepts all kinds of donations to include appliances that they will give to the clients who are moving into their own home.
They also have started a fund for a new building.
