LAWTON, Ok (RNN Texoma) -

A trial date has been set for the Lawton woman charged for her alleged involvement in a 2016 shooting that left a prison guard injured.
37-year-old Jana Givens is scheduled to go on trial in January of next year.

She is charged with shooting with intent to kill as a co-conspirator and conspiracy to shooting with intent to kill.
Police say Givens helped Michael Ishman in the 2016 shooting of a GEO prison guard, giving him a ride to the scene and driving him to Dallas after the shooting.

She claimed her then fiance, William Givens, directed them to carry out the shooting while he was behind bars. William Givens was found not guilty in connection to that shooting, but was sentenced to 12 years in prison for conspiracy to bring contraband into a prison.
