LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - A leaking roof directly over an electrical breaker is threatening to shut down a Lawton church and food pantry.

The House of Bread Ministry is no stranger to these issues. The building's roof is flat, making it easy for water to build up.
The latest leak is over their electrical breaker and an electrician told them they need to get it fixed or risk being without electricity.

Associate Pastor Ramonda Bruno said when they spoke with their electrician, he gave them nothing but bad news.

"He said you're going to have to replace this box over here. We said how much are we looking at, he said 15-hundred-dollars. We just don't have that kind of money so we're trying to appeal to the hearts of the people for help,” Bruno said.

Located on Wisconsin street in Lawton, Bruno said they have church services on Sundays and run a food pantry for those in need. If they can't raise the money, she said what will happen next is simple.

"It would shut the church down and it would shut the feeding program down,” Bruno said.

Bruno said they are constantly working to raise money to fix up the church, but now they need the public's help.

"Every little bit helps. Even if everybody just pitches in a little bit, every little bit helps,” Bruno said.

Bruno said they will be at the church Friday doing a donation drive and they hope the residents of Lawton will come out and support them.

"It means a lot. Without the people, you can't exist,” Bruno said.

If you want to come out and help, they'll be at the House of Bread Ministry Friday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. or you can call them at (580) 280 – 9920.
